This theory has been rubbished by many experts so maybe there's nothing in it but it makes interesting reading.
There are two virology labs in China. The one specialising in 'corona type' virus' is the Wuhan Institute of Virology, at the epicentre of the outbreak. In the past people have been jailed in China for selling on lab animals to local markets.
Given that there have indeed been 'lab leaks' it makes you wonder whether It's feasible to have started like this.

A very respectable Chinese university published a report saying it was either the lab or the wet market. Just to even mention it was pretty big news.
There had been incidents of bats biting people at the labs, so it isn't as far fetched as people think. But China, if it did it would never admit it.

By the very nature of the work conducted in such facilities two things can be said
- the level of security (of all types, but especially containment) is very high
- any failure of that security can have serious consequences (foot and mouth outbreak in the UK for instance)
There are some features of the virus & the response of the authorities that make it easier for 'conspiracists' to build a story around
There is no doubt at all that corona viruses are of interest from a biological weapons perspective, but there is also no doubt that important work on immunisation and treatment of corona viruses is also going on in such facilities
It could be that covid 19 has roots in a Chinese biological weapons programme. I think the chance is low, but not zero. It doesn't appear to be a finished project, but such viruses were surely being researched on around the world before most even knew corona as meaning anything except beer.

If it came from the lab, I think it was an accidental escape (see Pirbright / foot and mouth for an example). A monumental balls up. Rather that than infected bats / pangolins being sold for food.
We will never publicly know enough to be able to stop it being believed by the most avid supporters of this theory
What's important now though, above all else, is to control it's spread, get some immunity into the population (natural & vaccine), treat as many of those infected so they make a full recovery and stop it dominating life around the world.

I have seen it reported elsewhere that an infected bat wee'd on a researcher, also that the virus strain is the same as that found in bats 500km away from Wuhan which is hardly "local" for a food market.
The fact that local officials were very heavy handed on people reporting infection may or may not be significant.

The virus is very similar to existing, viruses can be reprogrammed in labs, hell the new cancer tratements use viruses to infect cancer cells. It’s quite a leap of faith really. It actually isn’t very similar to other Coronaviruses apparently, but very similar to viruses found in bats and pangolins which haven’t previously been troublesome for humans.
People will want to believe this was engineered though, saves them from the reality that there isn’t much order to the universe and a bat virus can cause this kind of damage.

I lean towards the 'obvious answer'. The filthy conditions and wide range of animals at the wet market allowed a virus carried by bars/pangolins to be transmitted to humans.
It has happened numerous times before, and will sadly happen again as long as countries like China continue to allow this sort of thing.

We don't really need another one.
If you want a biological weapon to control your own population and see off those who are not economically active (or certainly less productive than younger people) then this virus is ideal.
Population control rather than a battlefield weapon ...
Personally I think it's nature but the conspiracy theorists will run with their theories for a very long time.

Two videos have passed between yesterday and today that convinced me of something I suspected, but had no basis. It was just my speculation. Now I am convinced that the coronavirus was purposely propagated by the Chinese themselves.
At first they were too prepared. Three weeks after the start of the roll, 14 days and a 12,000-bed hospitals were already under construction. And they really built them in two weeks.
Awesome.
Yesterday they announced that they had stopped the epidemic. They appear in videos celebrating, they announce that they even have a vaccine. How could they create it so quickly without having all the genetic information? Well if you are the owner of the formula it is not difficult at all.
And today I just saw a video that explains how Den Xiao Ping gave the west a half stick. Due to the coronavirus, the actions of Western companies in China fell dramatically. China I just hope, when they went down enough they bought them. Now the companies, Created by the USA and Europe in China with all the technology put in by these exchanges and their capital they passed into the hands of China, which is now rising with all that technological potential and will be able to set prices at will to sell everything they need to the West. How are you?
None of this could have happened by chance. China who cared that a few old men died? Fewer old-age pensions to pay, but the loot has been huge. And right now the West is financially defeated, in crisis and stunned by the disease. And without knowing what to do.
Masterfully diabolic. It had to be the communists.
Adding to this, they are now the single largest owners of US treasury with 1.18 trillion holding surpassing Japan.
How come Wuhan is suddenly free from the deadly virus?
China says that the drastic initial measures that they took were very stern and Wuhan was locked down to contain the spread to other areas
Why Beijing was not hit ? Why only Wuhan?

America and all the above mentioned countries are devastated financially

China knows it CANNOT defeat America militarily as USA is at present THE MOST POWERFUL country in the world.
So use the virus...to cripple the economy and paralyse the nation and its Defense capabilities.

China's vision is to control the World ECONOMY by buying up stocks now from countries facing the brink of severe ECONOMIC COLLAPSE.....Later China will announce that their Medical Researchers have found a cure to destroy the virus
Now China shall OWN the stocks of All Western Alliances and these countries will soon be slave to their NEW MASTER..... CHINA
