  • MODS - this is NOT a For Sale thread*
So far I have bid farewell to my Seiko Prospex Dawn Grey:

My Omega Seamaster Professional 300:

And a load of quartz stters:

How about you? Certain that this is but a minor blip, and on a firm financial footing?

Or (like me) cutting and running as fast as possible?

If you have to sell in a downturn you were in far too deep to start with.

I don’t imagine there will be a lot of people admitting to this but one look at TZUK sales corner shows you just who has been swimming naked. Embarrassing.

Thinking about buying to be honest, not sure why a virus would make me sell a watch.

Wow. So many peoples' livelihoods are at stake as they are losing their jobs, their income, and with that their livelihoods for themselves and possibly their families. And you have the audacity to criticise them for taking financially prudent steps? The only embarrassment is you at such a time of crisis as this.

Possibly prudent to sell at the top of the downturn, and then buy at the bottom of the value curve?

TBH I wasn’t wearing either the Dawn Grey or the Seamaster SMP, as I preferred my red/blue Padi Prospex and my HydroConquest.

I was surprised and chuffed when they realized such good prices!

Timing the market? That’s entirely different from neglecting to have a suitable emergency fund set aside to pay the bills in times of hardship and being forced to sell assets - that they should never have bought in the first place - at depressed prices in order to keep the lights on.

Financial prudence to me is being in a position that there is no need to risk timing the market and no need to sell any watches, cars etc.

Stupidity is buying wrist trinkets with nothing in reserve. Fur coat and no knickers?

You may well be right but don't knock the "fur coat and no knickers" look. It is very sexy - you know, on the right girl, as opposed to a middle aged male watch collector.

Nothing,

Looking to sell one and as now WFH I may get around to doing so but no rush....
I have an order (on the waiting list) with a AD (sic) and a serious want for a specific Hublot but I'll carry on thinking about these rather than opening the credit card .... So no change for the last year .. Covid or not

Judgemental much? I’m embarrassed for you!

I’m not thinking of selling, but I would like to get one back that I left at my parents house about 3 weeks ago. Since then I have been in pretty much daily contact with people and as they are elderly I daren’t pop round!

In the meanwhile, I've got a hankering for a Seiko skx 007 but keep forgetting to bid on Ebay!

Buying a Hublot? Too, late you've got a virus and it's made you delirious...

Mate, nothing wrong with an opinion, strongly expressed!

As it happens I do have a reasonable financial buffer, but it seemed to make sense to add to it whilst possible!

I'm not looking to sell anything, but not looking to buy anything either at the moment.

Barchettaman - well done on realising the cash on your sales. I'm a little surprised that you sold the Seamaster, but if the Hydroconquest does the same job more preferably for you then doubly well done. smile

Haven't sold anything.

Have been looking for a PO GMT in the black/white colours for a while. I may buy if one turns up at the right price.

I do have an Air King that I have been meaning to sell.
