Anyone getting any of them?

Very tempted by both!

The new keyboard for iPad Pro looks awesome.

The "Magic Keyboard" looks great, until you realise its £350. A 12.9" 512gb iPad Pro, wifi and cellular, plus a magic keyboard is £1800 or there about!

I would rather have the MacBook!

I could maybe do with replacing my late 2010 MBA, although it’s still going strong.

I disliked the butterfly keyboard so avoided the previous generations but pleased to see they’ve developed a new mechanism more akin to the generation I have and also dropped the pricing again.

There are literally a dozen options for getting round this, hubs and adaptors etc the one you linked to is easily solved by using a monitor with HDMI for example.

I see that my title and opening post were a bit confusing for you.

Sorry about that.

Easily solved by buying a new monitor. laugh

I was just trying to be helpful as I was very surprised to find out (from the linked thread) that such an expensive modern product would be configured as such.

Thread should carry a "fanboi" warning, so long suckers! party
Err not a fanboi, I also said by using, not by buying. It was an example, clearly you aren't bright enough to work that out for yourself.

Was thinking of getting the MBA as it has the Touch ID but not the touch bar which I find quite frustrating. Not sure if it is worth the chance from a 2017 MBP though?

Plan was to upgrade my iPad to a pro this year so yes will get the 12.9” debating the pencil but will certainly go for the new case with touch pad so I will hold off buying until then.

Also looking to get a 27” Mac to replace a laptop as our shared computer (I generally use a MBP) but think I’ll hold off as heard they may have a refresh this year.

Tempted to get a USB-C monitor for the iPad as an interim solution.

Is anyone able to recommend a good USB-C monitor which works well with a MBP and wireless Apple Keyboard / Apple mouse please?

I ordered a 256gb 12.9 iPad pro. I was going to buy the 128gb until I looked at how much storage I’m currently using.

I bought an LG a couple of weeks ago that supports USB-C video and charge. Really nice and neat having only one cable going into my MBP13.

I would second that, it's a great monitor.

If anyone is thinking about the new MBA, the base model with the quad core i5 upgrade (£100) seems like the way to go. I have a 2018 MBA (the keyboard was replaced with the 2019 update), and it's a great computer, and this 2020 model looks like a really good update.

I like the look of both the laptop and the iPad. I wonder if the iPad now with trackpad support could replace a laptop for a light user?

i have had the new MBA for a couple of weeks, its a step up from my 2010 MBP, considered a new MBP as there not that much price difference these days, but didn't like the touch bar.
Have got used to the keyboard - the old one feels a bit last century in comparison.

didn't consider and I pad - never really got on with them

Interesting, what spec did you get?

What do you use it for mostly?

I'd be curious as well - one of the cheaper iPads and the 3rd party Logitech keyboard/trackbad would make for a relatively cheap Apple notebook type device.

when I say new, i mean 2019 (the new macs are cheaper for the same spac, but isnt that always the way!)

mine if the dual core i5, with 16GB ram and 512 ssd

I tried the magic keyboard on the 16 inch MBP but cant say the difference was that great - my spelling with both was equally rubbish.

I am not a high end user - so work related stuff, word processing/spreadsheets, The old mac was decently functional, but heavy to drag around (its amazing how perception of that changes, when it was new it was featherlight in comparison to the competition)

The new 2020 MacBook Air is a little bit easier to repair than the previous one. A little bit. https://gizmodo.com/apple-not-only-fixed-the-new-m...
