Rumour the carriers will be stopping apart from essential supplies.

Anyone heard it? Surely we can’t be denied cheap Chinese tat and eBay crap at this time of worry?

Seriously if that happens lots of e-commerce businesses will join the bars and restaurant guys.

Seems fair. People are taking the piss really, I've lost my job as not essential, selling chinese tat isn't really essential and puts the drivers at risk.

Who decides what is essential though? I can't buy hand sanitizer from the shops as all sold out but I might get it online.

If we are staying indoors "because virus" then surely we should be getting everything delivered?

st like this just makes me suspicious that there really is an ulterior motive.

We're operating as normal but with a number of drivers off with self isolation there is a backlog so medical deliveries and other similar items are being prioritised. Stuff will get delivered but there will likely be delays in some areas. Doesn't help that some companies are shipping goods as if nothing has happened and a lot are being returned due to local area lockdowns (mostly European countries)

I just got a replacement part for my kitchen from Poland via DPD. I wasn't expecting that for weeks, it took 3 days. Amazon are still delivering as normal, although I guess stocks will start to dry up. I just had a guy in Belgium cancel an order for a used guitar as he couldn't find a shipper.

I guess it varies then...

I'm in the industry and have heard nothing about being shut down.

All carriers are still operating, busier than normal for obvious reasons.

Whether the work can be deemed 'essential' is debatable but I think the government wants to keep E-Com going as it's lower risk than regular shopping

I've had 2 DX deliveries from Wickes this week (Monday and Wednesday), a delivery from DPD this morning and another due today from Amazon. Guy from DPD was loving it, said his job had never been easier as there was no traffic!

I've been buying a lot of crap through Amazon, the devil is playing with my idle hands... I noted that even for the Prime delivery dates for pretty much the list of heart rate monitors have the earliest delivery date as 23 April, not a single one earlier. Ebay have a lot of deliveries scheduled to come in from China estimated within a week!

So maybe Amazon are slowing down as restocking the warehouses is not happenning so quickly.

I had courier collection yesterday and another courrier deliver today. I doubt there will be any restrictions as to what they handle, they are reliant on volumes to achieve economies of scale/effective geographic coverage. I'm also buying bits to keep a project going whilst I self-isolate in the garage!

They can do what they want after tomorrow. I'm getting my slate bed pool table delivered. If they stop that then I'll have to do actual work in my home office/summer house instead. Can't be doing months of that!
