My van was booked in to replace a cv boot with a small tear tomorrow, but the garage is now closed for at least a fortnight. Anyone done their own repair on one of these rather than replace it?

Maybe a bicycle inner tube repair kit if it's not in an awkward place or too large.

And/or unclamp it and rotate so can't be seen from previous angle.

Find another garage, they are allowed to stay open so far.

If you have a halfway sensible tool kit you could try a split CV boot kit that can be fitted in situ.
It's a fiddly dirty job that is easy to bork and glueing the join is tricky.
The trade don't like these kits and are considered a short term bodgefix.

Depending on how big your 'small tear' is, you could clean it up and superglue it back together.

+1 I've done this in the past with superglue and never had to touch it again, think it was about an inch long split.

Superglue after a good clean.

Works on "split type" repair boots.

Works on o-ring make up kits.

Also works on repairs to normal boots.

In theory it's in getting replaced as we speak. Hopefully not too much aggro, however the supplied replacement didn't seem identical. Garage had a look and wasn't concerned. Took what I could get, no Ford dealer had one, and at £81 ( yes, eighty one pounds! ) for a genuine kit, and uncertainty about delivery times, I went with the £8 local motor factor part. I'd rather be spoonfed my own knee operation than give that much money for that small a part, even at the best of times.

Like the punctured tyre - only flat at the bottom....
