He will... no shortage of medical equipment/ventilator/oxygen for him should he require it
I don’t think this matters tbh.I have had a very sad and difficult conversation with one of the doctors looking after my dad. They have told me to prepare for the worst. He was admitted on Sunday and has had a slow mild improvement until last night. This morning his has gone downhill rather rapidly. The doctors have him on maximum oxygen and he is still deteriorating but they are hoping he will flatten off without needing a ventilator - they have them available but she told me they are a last minute option as the majority of people that end up on them are still on them - many over 3weeks. She said the body becomes dependent on the equipment and they think this is a negative and is very much a final option.
The scans indicate it is CV19 and are almost identical to other positive test patients she’s seen. His results may be available tomorrow. However it feel slightly irrelevant at this point in time as it really is a battle for his survival.
I can’t really function today. We just can’t understand how this has happened as him and mum have locked themselves away for weeks. The doctor even commented that it is obvious he was in exceptional health condition prior to this due to his clarity of mind and physique.
Even though he can hardly breathe he is still asking to take himself for a shower and apologising for being a nuisance. He’s my hero and I desperately hope he can get through this.
Edited to add:- Apparently the it’s a rather dangerous procedure to be put on a ventilator due to requirement to sedate and as his blood pressure is very low but with an erratic heartbeat. Also the long term risks to the damage if it is successful.

A full recovery doesn't seem to be depandant on having access to medical equipment. Some patients will have lasting lung damage and need to rehab for up to a year as a result of being under anesthetic for up to 4 weeks while being put on a ventilator. Which is especially damaging for older people. Obviuosly he could just have mild symptoms.

Thoughts are with you W12GT.
Moving onto HRH - loved the hypocrisy of the situation
"The tests were carried out by the NHS in Aberdeenshire, where they met the criteria required for testing." - yet at the same time his symptoms are described as mild.
For anyone else (not famous), we get told to stay at home UNLESS we are severely ill - and only when we get to hospital will we be tested.
Looks like one criteria for Joe Blogs and another for so called important people.
Grumbling aside, I wouldn't wish it on anyone - best wishes for all affected by this.
