I'm coming to the end of the 18-month contract I currently have with BT and their Infinity package. The service has been alright, but the wife is looking at the possibility of redundancy. So we're looking at cutting back at a few things, the internet included.

I keep seeing adverts for their fibre broadband and it's about half of what we're paying at the moment for BT. I also remember the issues they had being lax with customer information and their service had suffered as well.

So the question I have is - has their service improved?

I have been with them for many years, just renewed mainly because I am paying slightly less now than before for the same package and can't be arsed to go through the hassle of changing supplier. Their service is supported by Openreach, whenever there has been a problem that needs an engineer visit it is always from them. I have had only one real bad problem (very slow internet) which took a few days before Openreach came out to solve it which they did the same day. Another more recent similar issue was solved the same day as the complaint went in (more by luck than by judgement though I think).

Speed is OK for what I need (38mb) I could pay more and get 70+ but don't see the need as it is just for me. Connections are pretty stable most of the time. When it works it's fine (which is most of the time, downtime/issues have been very few and far between, just those 2 issues mentioned) the problem comes if you have to contact them (overseas call centre) to solve issues and then it's hit and miss how quickly things get resolved.

So from personal experience they haven't been too bad, I wouldn't have renewed if they had given me a bad experience over the last 2 years of my contract.
