I've been a member here for a few weeks now, and have so far managed to contribute a fair number of posts across a good range of the forums.

Unfortunately, as I'm obviously still considered a new member this means that more often than I not I log in and try to post something only to get an automated message along the lines of ''we are not accepting any posts from new members due to persistent abuse''... or something like that.

This is totally fair enough and I absolutely respect your policy. However, it does make using PH too much of an erratic, hit-or-miss affair for genuine new users and is very frustrating. For this reason I won't be logging in again and will just go back to what I used to do... reading from the sidelines but not actively contributing. Suspect I'm not the only one.

In these gloomy times with Covid-19 hanging over us we all have much more important things to think about anyway...Still, life must go on and my feedback / advice for what it's worth is that PH simply stops accepting any new members at all until such time as you are able to get a grip on how to deal with the morons trying to ruin it for everyone. This will surely make life easier for yourselves as well as saving potential new members the bother.

Hope this helps... genuinely, no sarcasm intended smile

PS ironically I got straight into the site today to post this! Feels like I just happened to get lucky though.

There's a restriction for 14 days after joning:

"We restrict new member access to certain forums for a period of 14 days to prevent spam; once that time has passed access will automatically be granted"

Maybe you've now passed the wait period.

Hi there,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us.

As Mr Pointy has highlighted, we do have a 14 day restriction for new members, and unfortunately some new members slip through the net and their profile isn't updated automatically which allows you to post whenever you like - this has happened to you, which we apologise for!

I hope in the future we can put some other systems in place which makes it a more streamlined joining process for new members in the forums, but this sadly isn't on the agenda yet.

Thanks again for your feedback.

Jack... Thanks very much for looking into this, and also for sorting it and getting back to me. Much appreciated!

Mr. Pointy... thanks also for taking the trouble to reply.

I’ve been here for a few months and thought I’d done something wrong. Can I get some freedom please?

So what, you have to join TWO WEEKS before you can make your first post, what is utter maddness, no? Really?

Frustrated "new" user here as well. Any chance of being given nighttime access?

Thanks smile

Is this made obvious in the sign up procedure?
