Doing a trackday at Castle Combe on the 24th. What do you lads tape your lights up with that won't take the paint off?

Masking tape is usually OK. Quite a few people with expensive motors doing airfields (or known gritty tracks) will do the entire fronts of their cars and sticky-out bits like wheel arches with clear sticky-backed plastic.

Personally I like strapping sickly-smiling estate agents spreadeagled to the bonnet - face forward - so they pick up all the flies in their teeth.

Whichever way, there's usually some sort of residue that'll need cleaning off.

Cheers, don't like estate agents then.

The last few times I've been there to see / take part in track days they don't seem to care if you tape up or not - I didn't, sa didn't a lot of others and we were all fine.

If you're worried about you lights though, then I've seen most people use siver duct/gaffer tape. Personally I think I'd use something like thick masking tape to try and keep some paint on the car after I pulled it off.

Rare to get a lamp cracked on a proper circuit, but rare not to at an airfield circuit. Chain estate agent's hands over the lights.

Email Peter Kenyon and ask if he can advise you on 'taping up'.

I sense a bit of humour here. Am I missing something?

I'm just asking because it says on the forms that the TVR car club sent me, "Don't forget to tape up your lights". Is this personal choice then and not mandatory?

Not usually mandatory, more often advisory. Lower slung cars tend to get more stone damage.
