Limited budget but looking to replace an Arcam solo mini coupled to B&W 602’s with a Arcam solo Movie which i can get for £699 for Anthony Galle micro se’s and a REL T7 sub.

Does this sound like a suitable system to replace mi e and give me surround?

Also I’m not against utilising the 602’s as fronts if they would match well but the idea is to get a more partner friendly system.

What are you trying to achieve? How do you listen to your music? Do you want Spotify etc? Do you listen to tv through the existing system? Do you watch DVD’s or watch Netflix?
Are you wanting a stereo set up or a surround set up?

If those speakers are the series 3 then do not sell them. Even by today’s standards they are superb.

I recently sold my Solo Mini and it’s a better amp than people think. I think it’s only issue is it’s lack of connectivity. It’s all RCA.
Those Gallo speakers look expensive, and maybe style over substance?

I would imagine that Solo Movie has a stereo mode? If so check it will run the sub.

For reference, I now use an Audiolab 6000a and use the digital inputs from the TV, and from a Sonos Zoneplayer. I have Monitor Audio Silver RX1 speakers and a BK XLS 200 sub. And it sounds excellent in 2.1. I get almost full range output, and volume when I want it. Netflix and all TV is streamed through the 50” Panasonic TV.

If you want wife friendly I think 2.1 is your option. Keep your speakers. Better amp with connectivity . A compact sub. Look at the BK. You will want a 10” driver for movies.

Trying to get a good surround sound experience that doesn’t overtake the living room.

I listen to my music via Bluetooth streaming from my iphone and i have the Arcam bluetooth reciever which i presume would still work with the solo movie.

I have Sky Q with netflix and a Playstation 4.

I have another system to move the 602’s to if needed but that system has some smaller B&W speakers unsure of the model so no great need to swop out.

Go for it. Use as many digital inputs as you can. But keep your existing B&W speakers for stereo. You WILL also need a centre channel speaker. Probably the most important as this is where voice mostly comes from.

There’s plenty of choice on the auction site at the moment. Both the 600 series to match your existing speakers, there’s also a nice new HTM62 for a similar price.
