Does the dvd unit from the Volvo XC90 (which looks identical front and back to my V8 Vantage dvd nav system) fit in the Aston?

It's the same player i'm certain - but what i don't know is if Aston did anything to prevent a unit from an XC90 being fitted? My players laser is dead (fails to acknowledge any disc).

Looking around, the dvd player from an XC90 seems like a sensible replacement (staying OEM). I also have the updated Volvo RTI disc to try and use to add postcode functionality.

I can find plenty of threads about newer Volvo RTI discs . . . but nothing that suggests the XC90 player can be directly swapped into the Vantage.

Cheers

I suspect (for the cost - not much) I'll take a punt on an XC90 used DVD nav drive. Front and rear look identical to the one in my Vantage. If i manage to get the old unit out and the replacement working I'll update smile

Aston (or the satnav OEM) certainly made some changes if only to get the Aston logo splash screen at start up. But that logo stays even when you update with Volvo discs so I suspect it is in firmware. That may mean the unit is coded to the car which could give you issues...but...equally it may well be a straight swap or maybe you can replace just the drive bay if that can be separated. Good luck!

If it doesn't work it may be just the excuse you need to talk to James at Aston Installations about their excellent Apple CarPlay upgrade!
