Hello peeps hope your all well

So to my last post had my mercedes clc Re sprayed. The guy has done a terrible job and I stupidly paid him! He has painted the front and back bumper entire passenger side and drivers door. On all parts he has painted loads of orange peel and just matt looking spots!

First time I went to collect the car the newly painted doors had chips and Dull paint colour didn't match so he told me to leave the car with him. A week later went to get the car and all parts he has pained orange peel all over! He didn't even polish the car gave it back to me covered in dust!

He originally told me he was going to paint it in a booth but has now admitted he sprayed the car in his garage

He has agreed to Re spray the entire car and will now do it in a booth. But I am reluctant as he might do a crap job again

For a good job to be done will he have to Re prime or can he just paint on top? I just want to know what prep work is required so if I take it back to him can make sure he does it right!

too many variables to say for sure

IF it was prepped right and no moisture got into the prep work then yes he could sand it and repaint

id say if he was happy to present you with such a job then stay away , a booth doesnt make a bad painter good

Yeah you guys are right I'm gutted. Will have to sell the car at a loss can't justify spending another 600 on it

If it cost you £600 to have basically 2/3rds of the car sprayed the job was never going to be brilliant, I'd expect the going rate to be closer to £1500+ for a decent job on that amount of work.

£600 for a full respray? Unless I’m misunderstanding, that’s where the issue lies. A full respray will be into the thousands.

This has to be a wind up. For 600 quid what did you expect?

Not a full respray.

Bumpers ,whole of 1 side and the other door ,might as well have asked for the whole car though ,would have matched a bit better.

Surely that is about ¾ of a full spray? So you’re basically saying the lot fo under a grand.
Sorry, that sounds way to low to me.
A rear quarter, door and rear bumper cost us £450 here last year (for a decent job!). I think that would scale to about £2-3k for a full respray.....& that was my daughters Fiesta....

That much work for that price - either the guy isn't or shouldn't be a painter...

It's not a full respray! Reason why he was cheap well I thought was because he works alone has a garage in a industrial estate.

I even went to a well established garage and they quoted me 750cash I wish I went with them!

The £750 job would have been about the same quality.
As I said in a previous post, a decent paint job for that amount of work will be at least double that.

Price doesn't always denote quality.
Some bodyshops are good and cheap.
Some are good and expensive.
Some are crap at any price.

Your location has a massive influence on the price.
Having said that £600 is cheap but if he'd charged £1,500 would the job have come out any better? Unlikely because the guy is just poor at his job by the sound of it
