Just wondering if anyone else is finding that whilst "working from home" cough, cough, that they are perusing the forums and classifieds quite a bit more? smile

It's the only reason toilet roll sales have shot up. No one is using it for wiping their arse..

I took delivery of my new pool table today along with my new music system last week. I have a cabinet full of booze and a fridge full of beer in here. I shall definitely working hard (keeping Skype on green) today and not, I repeat not treating my office as a pub.

Look at it this way - most people working in an office tend to spend significant proportions of time chatting, making a brew, having a st on work time etc. WFH means you do other kinds of procrastinating. smile

Yeah, about 18 months ago I was lusting after an Elise but my sensible head said that I couldn't really afford it and I don't have anywhere to put it. Nothing has changed on that front but I've seen there's a nice red one at the garage down the road scratchchin

I've worked from home since 2008. It's a problem that never goes away.

I think this is right, my weekly (IT Helpdesk) stats are similar to other weeks so I'll guess that my time wasting hasn't increased, it's just become less subtle.

I mean, normally the drinking light is lit at around 3PM in the office. But as nobody turned it off when they left...

Considering I have to work on some databases only accessible via our VPN and currently have WiFi down & upload speeds of <5 kbs there's a lot of time to be otherwise occupied as essentially can't do jack with those 'speeds'

Are you tempted to smash the laptop yet?

I suppose it will teach you to use your resources wisely. Not SELECT * FROM etc

The obvious thing when you're WFH is that you have infinitely more time available to you compared to being in an office.

In my opinion, and it does vary with the type of job, but your breaks can be taken up with anything you want to do really. As long are you getting your work done.

For example, I had a bit of brain haze when looking at figures and data for most of the afternoon. It's a nice day, so I went out and mowed the lawn. A necessary house chore done in 30 mins, and something I now don't have to do on the weekend. People easily waste similar amounts of time in an office just wittering on to colleagues.

I find taking short but regular breaks allows me to be more productive overall from my previous career.

Quick update... Just been advised that I'm to be furloughed from Monday. The up side is that my employer is ensuring I get paid full up until the end of May but the downside is that I may not have a job to return to. Bugger. rolleyes

Sorry, missed this earlier; always tempted to smash the laptop since we got 'upgraded' to new Lenovo's that even Fisher Price thought looked too basic for 'baby' s first computer' they really are a PoS (I want my old hp laptop back)

Anyway after numerous attempts to widen the VPN bandwidth, that actually made it worse, it seems better this week, 20 times faster (but then see speeds I was getting, it's still rubbish).

The poor hamster in the spinney blue wheel must be knackered
