Low flying Chinook

Just had a Chinook (probably) flying very low pass by, circling the fields opposite so I got to see it twice. Chap was waving out of the side hatch, very friendly.
Was frickin' sweet, North Cambridge.

I doubt it, my house would almost fit in a chinook!

We've had a few (or the same one) fly over several times recently.

And I think an Apache! But I'm certainly no expert so could have been another helicopter.

If it was green, and it had a cannon hanging off it, it was an Apache.

Had a navy (grey) merlin fly over the other day.

I was wondering if they were checking for groups out and about?

Plenty of the usual activity on Salisbury Plain recently including Apache's circling near our house and quite a bit of heavy gun fire, so I presume it's business as usual for some of the armed forces.

Wattisham is almost shut down now, and I’m pretty sure there’ll be no Apaches flying from there after next Wednesday. I doubt Middle Wallop will be much different, so you might not see any Apaches flying until May at the earliest.

We get them all the time near Hindhead, often see Apaches too and the Chinooks fly at night on night vision goggles.

I swear I got buzzed by a Chinook one night when in the car - very loud, clearly very low, but couldn't see it at all!

I was driving with the roof down last year and a whopper chopper flew along the road behind me and went straight over at about 100ft. It was superb. What an experience, I nearly crashed.

I do live on the edge of Salisbury plain training area so it’s quite common to see them.

I was also walking the dog one time and one of them went around with a guy waving.... 1 minute later it landed where me and the dog had been standing waving back..... got it on video.

Had something similar many years ago at Alconbury, door open feet swinging out of it.

Put more simply, a Chinook has two whirly things on top and an Apache has one whirly thing on top.
