How odd. Last night I stumbled across the 2 part South African documentary on the one that went down in the Sahara en route to the UK in 1994. Coincidence?

Why is the front glass panel flat? It looks so aerodynamically unsound that there must be a good reason for it.

It's the bomb aimer's window and needs to be clear of distortion. Most bombers had a flat panel in the nose for this reason -

Avro Lancaster -

Handley Page Halifax -

Short Stirling -

The upper flat window was for the gunsight- the earlier MR versions had 2x 20mm cannon, one either side of the nose for strafing ships.

That looks like an MR3, I think would have had the guns originally?

It is an MR3. The Mk1 and 2 all had tailwheels.

On the opening scene as the Shack is being pushed out the hangar. I’m the one driving the tractor pushing it!! Didn’t even get a picture of me.

The SAAF museum has Pelican 22, which does ground runs like the one at Coventry airfield.

Sometimes the ground runs can have unexpected results: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qmsC3cPNXQ

Why did they abort the run? It just wasted fuel...
