I need to buy a new family wagon and thinking of the Cayenne S. Out of interest, what kind of discount do you think can be realistically achieved in this environment?

What's a bog roll and I haven't seen anything tinned for what seems forever!

On discount, on existing showroom stock you might get lucky but if you're expecting to spec your order you'll get zip.

Local OPC were using these as Loan cars get a feeling you get a stock car no problem when they open again . Think they will be falling over them selves to sell cars in the current climate?

I was offered 10% off a very highly spec’d cancelled order just before the shut down and £6k off a car to spec. Leicester

Not sure you could actually buy one now but you’d get plenty off.

More importantly don’t buy one with Steel PASM and 22” alloys.... I had a loan car with that spec recently...ride was terrible.

I bought a new Cayenne a month ago on steel PASM and 21'' wheels..It handles brilliantly and the ride is fine however not as cosseting as if was on Air..Agree with Cheib its best to avoid steel PASM and 22'' combo.

Shame, there was a nice one at Teeside for a fair price. Think I'm just going to spend a non S version exactly the way I want with the adaptive air

Sorry ! That’ll possibly be why it’s cheap. The one I had as a loan car was a weird spec....Leather, Sports Chrono, 22” wheels and I think a heated steering wheel. Literally nothing else on it. Sales Exec said it had been specced to look good and sold on price when the time comes to sell it.

We’ve got a 2017 (previous model) with Air PASM and 21’s. It was a noticeably worse ride. My 11yr old son commented on it so not just me being a Porsche beard.

Surely it can't be beyond the wit of man to swap out some 22" wheels to smaller (Porsche approved) ones??...……………….. If the car is a 'bargain' (though what is a bargain at the moment?), then a wheel swap shouldn't hurt too much should it? Am I missing something?

Absolutely, however I like the 22 inch wheels, it doesn't look right to me without them!

Have been offered 8% off a new build. Is that any good? Don’t have much in the way of context

Context?

The world is collapsing.

Cars are down around 25% in the second week of a pandemic lockdown.

Just about every dealer on the planet has stopped buying cars.

We are going to see unprecedented job losses and thus PCP defaults.

You are being offered 8% discount?

Nice to see the person who is still buying a new car in the UK on Pistonheads.

You have some seriously big bks mate. Impressive.

Can’t say I agree with the above.

Just get on with it, if you want the car and feel 8% off is a decent price then buy it, if you think waiting will get you more off then wait.

This CV-19 thing can’t last forever as it’ll destroy the economy, it’ll be much cheaper for a few thousand people to die and get everyone back to work.

Lol. Was just told to grow a pair of b******* on another forum. Prefer having big ones on here.

I meant context in reference to other people who have bought Porsche cars from main dealers. It’s been a while for me (my last one was a 997.2 Turbo S which up until recently was going for more than I sold it at in 2014). Anyway, I’m very aware of the collapse in demand and the difficulty in pricing anything right now, cars or otherwise so will just shut up and go to bed.

Agreed. With other Marques I know it’s possible to get larger discounts on a new car but then that’s because they are over priced in the first place. Lord alone knows what anything’s true value is now. I guess it’s what I’m prepared to pay for it so your advice is sound.

Why buy now?

Give them 6 weeks of lockdown and you will be able to dictate price.
