*VIDEO* Porsche Intake Mods Mythbusted
Discussion
Having amateurishly messed around with modifying cars for 20 years that's about what I'd expect. Frankly I my 996 3.6 Carrera has probably lost a little power mid-range with the 200 cell cats on there (although it feels stronger at the top). I'll be interested to see if they do a whole combo of exhausts, induction modifications AND remapping whether they get anything more than a large bill. Suspect not though.
mods like these work along side with other mods.
So fit a plemun you might see 10bhp, fit a filter you might see 4bhp, change and exhaust you might see 10bhp
fit all 3 and then have a remap you might see 45bhp
I know part of the 981 GT4 basic cobb remap needs the BMC filters to get the quoted power.
the 991.2 RS has BMC filters, the 991.2 GT3 paper. Porsche must have tested both then gone to BMC for the RS ones to be made.

Remember the old debates over M52b28 inlet manifolds!? At least with the manifold converted by Alpina527 (did you know he passed away fairly recently?) the car really did gain some top end. I never felt it lost that much torque lower down but I swapped the diff to a 3L M3 item that was a little shorter and I can't remember what it was like before that...and a PCA video with just the IPD plenum on a 996 Carrera gets (slightly) more power - maybe larger throttle body was an issue with the first video.
