Low Body Temperature - 34-35degC
Discussion
In recent weeks I've obviously been taking my temperature at regular intervals. It never exceeds 36. It is usually in the 35+ region but today is at 34.1, 34.5 max! My daughter and wife are at 36.2 and 36.8 on the same ear thermometer.
According to the internet I'm hypothermic and there are several potential reasons for this, most of which don't have a happy ending. I don't want to bother my GP at this difficult time but do any medics on here have a view on this? Do some people have a naturally lower temperature without it being an indication of imminent death? I'm 65 and feel reasonably healthy though find that sentences don't form as well as they used to and I seem to have a lot of muscle and joint aches.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago. I felt like I had a fever, but had a temperature around 35. I am alright now.According to the internet I'm hypothermic and there are several potential reasons for this, most of which don't have a happy ending. You need to employ a second thermometer to get confirmation. For whatever reason it may not be measuring accurately for 'you'.
I was wondering about that. One ear does seem to measure slightly differently from the other quite often. Maybe they both read low using this method for some reason. RegMolehusband said:

Don't take any medical advice on this forum as being worth anything, but if you weren't feeling chills prior to this, and have only become concerned after measuring it repeatedly I would pay it no mind and get on with your day.
Would that include or exclude the advice you've just shared? On a light heated note:
Law number 10 states "If you don't take a temperature, you can't find a fever."
I refer to Samuel Shem's 1978 novel The House of God, which is pretty much core reading for Medical Students.

Moral: what you don't know about, can't hurt you. And obviously I'm making a joke of this,

Me too; around the time the whole COVID thing kicked off several days I was not exactly "shivery" but just felt cold. Took my temperature - ranged from 35.1- 35.8 over a few days and with three different thermometers. I didn't feel ill but I didn't feel exactly brilliant either. However, i work from home and have done for years, have little outside contact except the missus and her kids and we live in the sticks. Who knows.
Currently, it's 36.2 and I feel right as rain.
