Is anyone aware if the rate of crime has dropped, or if the types of crime have changed?
Surely things like muggings must have dropped, purely from fewer potential targets on the streets. Likewise, home burglaries may have dropped too, with there being people at home all the time.
Do you think the criminals will be responsible self-isolators?

A friend works in a 999 call centre. I think on friday night they had one drunk/violence related call. Just the one.
I wondered about this. Is there now noticeably less pressure on A and E and on the other emergency services because of reduction in traffic and Friday nights ‘on the town’ etc? Maybe compensates a bit for the Coronavirus cases?
I follow the local traffic police Twitter feed and what I find astounding is that they are still getting drunk drivers!
The pubs are shut, restaurants are shut, parties are essentially banned... Yet from the amounts they are blowing people are seemingly thinking "that was a nice winebox I just drank... I feel like going out for a drive now!"
The more likely possibility is that alkies are running out of booze at home so heading out to get more...

A friend who is a paediatric consultant has found her department is doing very little trade at the moment. Maybe compensates a bit for the Coronavirus cases?

I have to drive occasionally still and I am very wary of the few other drivers on the road. For what ever reason driving standards among the few on the road are very poor. I've been pulled out on by knackered looking hatchbacks with parts missing more in the past week than the past year.The pubs are shut, restaurants are shut, parties are essentially banned... I wonder if there has been an increase in domestic incidents requiring police due to the conditions we're now in.
Those criminals whose day to day "livelihoods" depend on petty crimes that aren't now possible, what are they doing? Are they going hungry/bored or exploiting other avenues.

I know someone who is a Police officer.
He say's pretty much the only thing he's had to deal with in the last week is 'Domestics'.
With people being required to stay inside with their family members for much longer than would perhaps be the norm, a rise in these is probably not unexpected.
