How will a person get done for an uninsured parked car?

If your insurance runs out for say 18 hours, you dont drive it but it is parked on a public road, you then insure it, will you be in any trouble for those 18 hours since parked cars must be insured?

There's a possibility police have drove past in those 18 hours and their computers have picked it up. Would they have done anything\how does one know if any action has been taken?

Could do but you would dispute it showing old certicate and new certificate with the 18hr gap and they'd more than likely be reasonable to you.

Certificates are time stamped so it shows the time it expires and starts.

As far as I can imagine, they will detected the uninsured car then give you fixed penalty points which they cant take back without an appeal? So unless they decided to ignore it,you have no chance?

I doubt if they see an uninsured car they will just drive on by and fine through the post - they would get the car clamped or probably towed there and then? If they did this and the owner DID have insurance, presumably the car is given back at no cost.

Not good policing if they are aware of an uninsured car but just leave it there. (As this type of find can lead to other issues such as the car being stolen, for example)

I did not think under the CIE you will get penalty points if you were not driving the car but you will get a fine.

Being done for having an uninsured car is an annoyance, it's a fine. It's nothing like being done for driving an uninsured car, which is 6 points usually, a fine, and loadings on your insurance for a good few years.

Or scrawl it on the calendar mice and big + 30 days before it’s due you’ll never miss it.

It has nothing to do with CIE, the car is on a public road without insurance, whether you were driving it makes no difference the minimum penalty is 6 points and a fine. Chances of it coming to the attention of the police in an 18 hour window are pretty small, not that it matters much as the OP comes across as a troll anyway

How is it small. I'm in London and they drive through my road daily repeatedly. Their on board computers will flag it up as being uninsured so surely someones seen it multiple times already?

urggh not really. You can actually see photograps of my car with the damaged bumper yet you think I'm trolling because i'm trying to find a quick way to mount the number plate so i can drive it. Honestly I got better things to do then troll or accuse people of trolling over petty things.
