Reading an article in the NZ Herald about Air NZ. Their revenue last year was around £3 billion. For 2019 they are now forecasting around £0.5 billion! They reckon it will take years to get back to their current size. They are sacking 30% of the workforce immediately but if they shrink by 80% they will likely need to lose a lot more.

The CEO has magnanimously decided to drop his pay from £800k to just £700k...

Whether £800k was a fair wage for a £3bn business is open to question but seems far too much for a £0.5bn company.

I guess if the company survives, it’s a fair salary.

If it goes pop it could be argued it was too much.
