Are wood pigeons thick?

There is a wood pigeon flying inside our engineering shop for 3 days now up in the rafters, we have opened three big roller doors for it to escape but it just flies from rafter to rafter and completely ignores the big open doors at the side. I think the human race is like this and often wonder what is in front of our noses which we cannot see
Put some corn down for it in a trail leading out of the door.
Also put some down inside when you pack up in the evenings, and some water, too - it'll need it after 3 days.
Also try and leave the doors open when there's nobody about. Unlike town pigeons, wood pigeons are extremely nervous around people. It's possible that it knows jolly well where the door is but is afraid to come down from the rafters because there are big nasty humans about.
Another possible approach to this would be to turn off all the machines in the door half of the shop and get all the people working down the other end.
Good thing is that at this time of year with the light evenings there's plenty of scope to do stuff like this after hours.

Actually, he's not so far off... Urban wood pigeons have lots of food but few hazards apart from cats; they can "afford" to be nervous and panicky about hazards because they have plenty of time on their hands. Rural ones don't want to leave their food every time they see a human, so they learn what guns are.
They don't like cities much, though; not enough green. So there are few of them in cities compared to town pigeons, which are a different species. They are the feral descendants of domesticated rock doves, which is why they are much more happy than wood pigeons about hanging around with humans.
Can't bee too think... the buggers have just moved into a new pad with Sky TV... Or more precisely, have just moved into the bracket holding my Sky dish to the wall!
Bllody noisy gits too with all that flapping and cooing. Any idea the best way to evict them? And should one serve red or white wine...?

Wait till they lay, then take the eggs ASAP and remove the nest.
They will lay two a couple of days apart, and not start sitting the first one until the second arrives.
You sure these are wood pigeons? Sounds more like a town pigeon's kind of nest site. Wood pigeons prefer trees and things, and much better hidden nests.

Yep your right there LA ...fresh meat and eggs for very little work ....
Now the bloody pidgeons have cottened on and turned things round.
Mean while a plastic dovecote with a plastic dove attached is all the rage on ones barn conversion dont you know
