What are the symptoms of a starter motor on its way out? Or is mine just in need of a bit of lubricated loving?

A few times over the last week its clicked and started. Just today, it clicked and nothing happened. Had to turn the key twice to get it to start up.

What do you reckon, swift hammer justice? New starter? Or a bit of lube somewhere?

New starter, or perhaps you just need the Mod-Wise wiring upgrade.

Try checking your connections at the battery.

There's two points where there's connections - at the battery and then on the battery cover itself.

Mine were loose and because of the amount of current needed to start the car was causing this clicking.

I tightened everything up and bolted down my fuse box and everything is fine.

I also add that during my investigation it does appear that poor TVR wiring does reduce the power getting to the starter (causes slow windows too) - try wiring direct to battery via relay.

mine did this recently - turned out to be a knackered battery and duff alternator.

Hmmm, think I'll give the connections on the starter motor a good clean before I replace it. Gotta wait for the sun to come back though, bloody rain
