Does anyone recognise this modern cafe racer?
Discussion
Looking back through some of my photos from last years Copdock motorcycle show I stumbled across one picture that I couldn’t identify since my photography skills weren’t quite up to scratch that day. I can’t read the name on the tank but initially thought it was a Skyteam Ace however the seat and exhaust look different for that.
Does anybody recognise this?

I think you can spot part of the name on the tank, googling it comes up with gitane testi champion.
I think we have a winner, thank you. I was convinced it was a modern recreation from the look of the bike but can see now that it’s 60s/70s.
Surprised Also that they were only 50cc, the engine looked bigger than that.
I appreciate it’s not the PH thing to do but nevertheless though an update on this forum thread was overdue.
After finally finding out what the mystery bike was I decided I fancied one in my garage. The search begun but I very quickly found there’s only a handful of these for sale in the U.K. and none of which were within my budget.
At the start of lockdown I found a bike that looked ideal for a restoration project and at 1/4 of the cost of anything else forsale, only problem was that it was late March, Covid had just hit and the bike was in Italy. Google translate came to the rescue for communicating and after some back and forward on the price the seller was surprisingly accommodating and offered to strip the bike down and then post it to me in three separate parcels! What could possibly go wrong?
Well true to his word the three boxes were all delivered over the space of a couple weeks and aside from a few nuts and bolts that got lost along the way it all made it here safely. Over the last few months I’ve slowly been building it back up again to a complete bike making the repairs, replacing a few bits and generally making it look like new again. There’s still a few small jobs left to complete such a making the foot pegs and putting the stickers on the tank but it’s almost there.
The application for a dating certificate and DVLA first registration was submitted over Christmas and as a pleasant surprise the V5C dropped on the doormat today so once the weather improves and I’ve sorted the insurance I’ll be ready for the first ride.
