Tesco Home Delivery ‘Your slot has expired’?
Discussion
So I get a delivery slot, it’s in 20 days time. But next day it states ‘Your slot has expired’
I’m thinking, maybe I need to put some items in my basket. So I put £12 worth in and hit the Checkout button. Next day, same message. (obviously my total shop will be £100+, but I’ll complete that nearer the delivery/change order deadline).
So I searched on their site for any minimum basket total, to prevent this happening, found nothing.
Last night I did the same procedure, this time £75 worth of goods. So far (11hrs on) it’s not expired. Fingers crossed.
Anyone know the bottom line on this?

You need to checkout and go through payment to secure the slot. You can do this with one or more item in your basket. You can then amend the order as much as you want up until 23:45 the night before the delivery is due.
If your basket is below £40 in value when you checkout online then a £4 picking and packing charge will be added, but as long as you amend to over £40 before the order is picked this will not be charged.
Payment is only taken when the items are picked on day of delivery. The payment through the site checkout is really just a small authorisation.

I've found that in order for your slot to be reserved you must check out as you have and then proceed to payment pay for the goods you have selected. When payment confirmation comes through you need to log out.
You should then get a mail from them for what you have bought and the estimated bill.
As you know you can change the order or cancel prior to delivery. As I understand they do not actually take payment, all they really need is your card no. to charge the goods to, something like 24 hours before dispatch of your order.

You're doing well if you managed to even find a slot, we use Tesco regularly (long before the current malarkey) and I've been trying several times a day for a fortnight with no luck.
Yes, you do need to fully check out and pay.
Wait until midnight, that's when a new days worth of slots becomes available. Currently 21 days ahead. Yes, you do need to fully check out and pay.
