first of all greetings
just would like to ask what your opinions are of the new brammo/spectrum5racing new twin turbo package for the ultima.

They claim a power output between 600-1300hp but good streetability with relatively mild cams.
the compact header package utilising a water-to-air intercooler looks impressive.

I'd asume these are not legal options in the People's Republic of Kalifornia.
Basically if you source the major components from 2 or more sources you should get away with it being classed as an Specialty Constructed Vehicle.
I've heard of at least one case where someone sourced the engine and body of a superperformance cobra from the same dealer and was refused licensing.
Unfortunately the interpretation of the rules is entirely up to the DMV employees and the people who later do the car inspections, so nothing is guaranteed.
Also if you want an SB100 number you better be queuing up the day the DMV opens in Jauary, this year they were all gone by 4:00p.m. the same day. All the numbers come from one office in Sacramento and the phones get completly jammed up.

What sort of prices are they talking for a mid spec twin turbo package ?
Dunno about the prices.
The pic of the engine block they got at their website definitely looks impressive.
900-1000bhp in an ultima gtr would be awesome and terrifying but they're promising reasonable drivability as well

had a look at the site, they're an enthusiastic lot! huge hp engines incl. big blocks.
brammo/spectrum5racing have got more experience IMHO and they sell engines built specifically for the ultima.
does anyone know any other good builders for the ultima?

I've heard of someone having a similar engine built by someone here in the UK for an Ultima, anyone on here?
i'm sure it'll be pricey. turbo engines make big hp but as everything will be under more 'stress' and there's a lot more parts ie. intercoolers, piping, fuel systems etc., reliability suffers a bit and more things can go wrong.
Having had (and rebuild, twice) a high hp turbo (just a skyline tho., nothing major
) engine, i'm really thinking whether going N/A is better. Of course, if the builder is brave enough to provide an extensive warranty then it's probably okay but i can't find any (lingenfelter is the only 1 i know- they provide a 2yr/24000mile warranty even on their 750hp twinturbo C5R engine).

Boyd Coddington used these people to build a 1500bhp motor for one of his project, It was on tele only a few weeks ago here in England.....
As far as Brammo is conserned he's a great bloke, and a utter Car Nut. Have had some dealings with him, I would trust him.. I'm going to see him later this year..

We will be running 16psi, and looking at 800bhp and 800ftlb
Oh and dont be fooled by the name, Its going to prove expensive to make the CanAm FIA approved to race, so we are going for a GTR, but someone already has that name
