Uxbridge.....What’s it like?

It is what you make it .
Close enough to all that London has to offer and easy access to the countryside.
It is at the end of the tube lines , right next to the M40,M25 &M4 .
If renting off campus it won't be the cheapest but it will have a good variety of choices .
Plenty of supermarkets and corner shops , plenty of pubs .
A huge selection of places to eat in or takeaways.
It's not as bad as some areas and many look at it as a new town when in reality it is actually very old . It was a stopping place on the old coaching route to Oxford .
It is Boris Johnson's constituency.
Most of my neices loved the area but I was glad to move out .

My son is currently a student at Brunel and likes it. There seems to be a good social scene and it's quick and cheap to get into London for stuff that Uxbridge doesn't offer. The campus is 70's concrete brutalism, but has a certain charm, and people seem happy whenever I've visited.Is it the s

At the end of the day, it's an anonymous, dull, middle class London suburb, but that's unimportant to students who'll find their own entertainment/friends.
It's a pretty great place for a student. Good shopping, lots of pubs, bars, eateries, and the best thing, easy and cheap to get into Central London, and if you miss the last tube home, no grotty nightbus full of druggies and weirdos, stopping every 200 yards and taking 3 hours, for you. Just grab the Oxford Tube (bus) from Marble Arch to Hillingdon Station (first stop) for £4 and then a 10 min walk.
