After removing some questionable carbon fibre lookalike tape from some trim in my engine bay area it's left some unsightly glue (see below) and I'm struggling to remove it, and even if I do it's removed some of the top layer of the fabric.
One solution to make it better aesthetically is to flock it and the YouTube videos make it look quite simple and I wondered if anyone had done this in the past and what tips they'd make to ensure a uniform and professional looking finish?

Where are you located? I’d suggest it’s one of those tasks that’s up there with plastering and window tinting. Worth paying the experts for. Poor flocking looks patchy, and is not very resilient. Good flocking Ives very resilient, and looks good. I have a Transit Connect Mk1 with full RS running gear. The people I use to look after it, are RS and Cosworth specialists. I’d always known about flocking, but got to see it properly on a series 2 RS turbo they were involved in. While the owner had decided to flock almost everything ( less is more) the quality was excellent. I’ve since done a few panels inside the van, to break up the sea of grey plastic. The reason I asked location, is the guy who did mine is superb, and on the south coast of Hampshire if you choose that route.
Try methylated spirit to remove the glue, it usually gets most things off with little chance of damage to the substrate, however, do a test. Failing that, speak to a flocker locally, and see what they suggest. It’s a good finish for certain areas, and apparently durable enough for wheels and rocker covers if that’s your flavour.
