I'm a dropbox user so not really up to speed at all with OneDrive and I'm having some difficulties.

I'm starting to work on a project remotely and the client has set up a OneDrive share folder that we can all use. They have sent me the shared folder link and I can see it online by following the email link however it doesn't appear to be linked in anyway to my own OneDrive aco. No other files are visible on their link.

Now if my wife shares a link from her own OneDrive account to me, I open the link online, can see that folder and all of my other ones. And I can choose to sync that folder (if she grants permission) so that seems to work fine.

The only thing that I can see is different in each case. When my wife shares a link, I open it and the top left hand corner shows 'OneDrive'. The clients linked page shows 'Office 365'.

Clutching at straws but if the client is using 365 Business and I am on 365 Personal, could that be causing the issue? My wife's account is also personal.

Could it be that one is sharing the entire folder and sub-folder structure, whereas the other is sharing specific files?

SD.

I don't know if this is the reason, but isn't there something about OneDrive for Business not really being OneDrive at all, it's part of Sharepoint?

I'm guessing here, but you might need the OneDrive for Business sync client, which I doubt you can get without O365.

Cheers guys. I think the latter might be the answer.

Amazed this has been so complicated. Been using Dropbox for years and it's incredibly simple but this has been a right pain.

Client is going to set me up a dedicated Business Onedrive account. Which will work although I'm anticipating MS office having a hissy fit about using 2 different MS accounts but that's a bridge to cross another day.

Thanks again.

I know a few of our guys have both personal and business O365 accounts and they seem to work OK. I recall an issue where one guy had used the same email address and password for both so when logging in through a browser he didn't know where he was!

That's me.
I tend to use two different Browsers.
Setup the Personal one a few Years before Work migrated from Notes to Outlook and now O365.
Works fine.
