Things to check in a 'Used' GTR

I've reluctantly given up the idea of building my GTR, as the price of houses in Cambridge with a double garage, even to rent for the purpose, is sufficient to set my plans to build my own car here back several years...

So, I thought I'd buy one from the PH site instead...

So for those of you who did this already, and those builders who don't think I've whussed out and taken the easy path, is there anything that I should have checked as a matter of course??

I'll be ringing the factory to ask about booking a check of any that I'm interested in...

I would say they is a minimum spec you should look for on a GTR :-

Factory AP Racing brakes
Factory seats
Factory 18" inch wheel
Carbon rear wing ( expensive option to fit later )

V8 chevy with documentation and history who built it, (American speed would be best probably)

If you are a trackday bandit, adjustable shocks, and either an accusump or dry sump is manatory.

PS Look in the bulkhead behind the seats engine side if there are two woks welded there I suggest you walk away ...

Yes you can build a Canam in a single garage. I did. It will only take 3 years of corrective back surgery and I should be OK.

I bought a Sport off PH in January and would look for:
+ an owner prepared to answer questions in the next 6 months
+ no fuel tank leaks, pretty unlikely of course, but this proved to be an extensive and for me challenging job, also would have been expensive to replace them, so have a good sniff and look at the rivets under the car for any signs of leaks after test-drive
+ a quiet gearbox, i.e. little or no mechanical noise coming through particularly when you force a bit of driveline shunt
+ no evidence of over-heating after/during extended test drive
+ oil pressure particularly at warm idle

The factory do a 7 hour safety inspection for about £350 on 2nd hand buys. Worth considering.
