Copy of the order closing schools

The Coronavirus Act 2020 says "he Secretary of State may give a temporary closure direction that applies to—

(a)one or more named registered childcare providers in England;

etc.

Now I know that this has happened - all schools are closed. However, I was interested in the wording of the 'temporary closure direction' - is this published online - if so, where?

No- I was looking for a copy of the 'official order'!

I believe it should be published in the London Gazette, however I would be surprised if it was actually given!

I seem to recall the comment was that all schools would be closed and private schools would be asked to close. It would be a brave head who decided not to follow a Government request.

Thinking about this further it seems even more likely bearing in mind that many schools remain open for the children of key workers and I believe they are remaining open throughout the school holidays.

I doubt if it exists.

Most schools are still open, and will be over Easter as well, for key workers' children and vulnerable children.

Powers given to Ministers under primary enabling legislation (Acts of parliament) are normally implemented through Statutory Instruments. These are secondary legislation (implemented by the government rather than parliament) and are also published on the same legislation website under Statutory Instruments.
