Im going to use the biker biker collective knowledge.

What 600 has the lowest wet weight? Obviously there is a budget (5k) but age and mileage is not a consideration. Im guessing some form of ktm?

From memory, the late/mid noughties bikes where around (a claimed) 155kg dry....wiki will show you whats what.

My wifes 2001 model is what I would call a light bike and a joy to ride, bit more comfortable than the later models but not as good looking/ track focused for sure.

When you say "What 600" are there any other parameters?

Number of cylinders, carry a pillion, seating position?

And does it have to be a 600 or would you drop down to for 400 or up to a 650?

Help us out here!

When I was looking for my last bike the weight was a big issue, maybe having a r1100gs officall 240ish kg but at mot time it showed just under 260kg before did not help, I looked at zzr's, cbr's etc and ended up with a cbr600fx which is fab and the ktec forks and nitron shock helped my purchase too

Didn't you spend ages trying to convince people that 125's are great and all you need?
Anyway there are loads of really slight girls that manage to move big bikes about, which would say it's about technique rather than strength.
Maybe work on that?

TT600 170kg

Speed Four 170kg

According to bikespecs.za

S4 should be lighter as it doesn't have as much plastic...

Comparing the weights of different types of bike I can understand, but going for say a CBR over an R6 because of a few kg is strange. Like asking which hatchback has the widest steering wheel

I'm sure it's done to death, but dry weights seem a waste of time to me.

A lot of those weights were very 'claimed' by the Japanese though, remember Honda once quoted the weight of a Fireblade without fork oil or battery, let alone oil, coolant or petrol...

That’s what a dry weight is.

Agree.

Still feels like a plastic toy when moving it around the garage compared to my speed triple.
