I cleaned my Jaguar F-Type which has been ceramic coated and found that on the rear of the car there are some strange markings which look like water marks / tree sap but cannot be felt, almost seem to be under the coating / lacquer. See below for some photos:

I tried using some "CarPro Spotless Water Spot Remover" which I have lying and have used previously to remove water spots but it was unsuccessful this time.

The car lives outside and had some debris from a nearby tree on it last week which probably baked on in the sun a bit so perhaps this is tree sap?

Would anyone be able to recommend a product that wont damage the ceramic coating but might fix this please?

Cheers,
Mark

Definitely not sap or water spotting.

It looks really odd, after 30 years in bodywork i am normally quite good at diagnosing paint problems

the over all finish looks to be below an acceptable standard, i cant tell from the image's if this is due to a failure of the ceramic coating
Or a failure under the coating

Delamination is occurring on one or the other.

Thanks Nick. Thats what I was concerned about. Will give the detailing company a call later on to see what they think.

I had similar on my car. They came off with a wash. Well, similar to the bottom picture. The top looks more like lacquer failure.

I don't think the ceramic coat has failed and also I don't think people understand ceramic coat isn't a "fix" for everything.

For example if you leave bird st on, or it's had high-dust content rain on it and then been left in the strong sun [as has happened recently] then you will still get some marks that you can't necessarily remove with washing or chemicals alone and would likely need a re-polish.

Thanks Jay. Completely understand that you can't rely on a ceramic coat to solve everything, however these marks seem quite extreme especially as you cant feel them with your fingernail as I've found previously when I've had limescale / water spots on cars.

Any recommendation for a product I can use to try and shift these? Normal washing technique doesn't seem to be doing the trick unfortunately.

I would have said the carpro water spot remover but you said that doesn't seem to be working.

I reckon a gentle polish would work but this would reduce or remove the coating, so best speaking to your detailer.
