Hand break light switch & chav lock

I have looked at the book and taken the various knobs of and removed the cover but still can not find the switch, so I put it all back and now the chav lock button will not work. The car is a 2001 Chim 4.5 not that should make that much difference but I suppose it is a TVR.
Any bode got any good ideas?
