New cambelt, 60 miles. Looks to be fraying. Help!

I would direct your question to whoever supposedly did the work...

There's writing on the cam belt - it wears off pretty quickly in my experience so I'd say that was a newish belt.

Yes, I will tomorrow but if someone says that looks brand new then I’m going to look pretty foolish aren’t I.
I’d just rather have a few opinions first.
Thanks.

That's been changed you wont see the written on a old belt specially ones that have done 8 years work. Most garages will replace with a gates belt too as they are the most common in indy garages and local car parts places.

Only done 70 miles in it since. Just doesn’t look brand new like I expected when I opened the casing.
The aux belt looks brand spanking new but this belt just doesn’t have the same look about it.

Its new a 8 year old belt wont have any writing on it by now. The smooth face runs alongside a pulley and the timing belts are under quiet a bit of pressure so will look worn even after a few miles.
Plus an old original belt wont have gates stamped on it.

It's a moot point now as the op has deleted the picture but in my opinion the belt didn't look new, I'm not saying it was the original one but to me it didn't look new.
I'm retired now and have no idea exactly how many cambelts I've fitted but it will be in the thousands and in my experience it's not unusual to see the writing on the back of a quite old and worn belt.

This, it was all frayed down one side as well!

Cambelt done at the garage last week. Decided to be nosey and look at the new belt. Seems to be fraying. It’s only done 60 miles.

I am going to call them about this but just like opinions first as I am not a mechanic by any means.

How did you form that conclusion?

Is the belt meant to be fraying?

That's either an old belt or a way to tight belt. Either way don't drive that car
