"TT2" My Ibis White Audi TT DSG
Discussion
Nice looking TT. Reference the locking wheel nuts, getting rid of them and replacing with a standard nut is the first thing I do. People may mock me but does anyone pinch wheels anymore? they don't in my area. Besides that as you have just found out, broken or lost adapters can cause you a whole world of grief.

Cheers, I know what you're saying, but people do still nick wheels, so I just bought some locking wheel nuts just in case. Dar_Williams said:
I was always under the impression the DSG and S-tronic were two different boxes? Is that not the case?
I'm no expert but from what I've read online they're the same thing, technically I should call it an s-tronic, as it's an Audi.Im happy to be corrected on that one.

It's something I'm considering as my next car. 2 litre with a DSG box. Really like the DSG box and the mpg vs performance is a good balance for me.
Averages an indicated 32mpg, which isn't bad for a 2.0 auto, it's quick enough for the road realistically too, they can go faster though

Not correcting, just curious as to the similarity! It makes sense to be fair

Very nice, I too have thought about these, may I ask the price?
Yeah, it was £4k, which is probably an average price for a Mk2, but a good price for a Ibis white dsg. The cheapest Ibis dsg on AT right now is £6k.
OP, I helped a friend of MrsCs buy a mk2 TT V6 roadster in Jan 19. It had 100k miles & SH & was bought for just under £5k which at the time seemed so cheap. The first thing they did was break the bonnet release handle! I’ve just trotted off to look at A/T & the price of V6 mk2s (it’s something about the V6 noise) & the prices are sooo cheap
Good luck with the project

I had a 3.2 mk2 and found it easy to live with, comfortable with plenty of performance, avg 27mpg. I enjoyed it enough to keep it 8 years and only sold it because it had a few issues to deal with it and it really was time I got another car. After a diversion to a 235 I bought a mk3.
A note about the DSG though. For a long time mine was very clunky and slow but only when it was cold. I put up with it, but it would've been expensive to repair. So beware testing a car (to buy) which has been warmed up.
Otherwise, not much went wrong. Window regulators, obviously, Bose head and aircon compressor while under warranty. I upgraded the headlight bulbs, which was worthwhile.

It's silly the prices now, you get a lot of car for the money, I considered a V6 but the £500 tax put me off, and although it's a great engine, having had one in a Cayenne, i didn't fancy being on first name terms with the local petrol stations again, plus the tuning potential is better with the TFSI.
Good luck with the projectPART 2
Once the locking wheel nut issue was solved, it was back to the garage for the service, £240 for oil service, pollen filter, brake fluid change and full check up, it was given the all clear apart from it potentially needing a tyre for MOT, which I had already suspected it would.
MOT was due in April, but I took it early (thankfully) and it managed a pass!
It did in fact need a tyre, the rest were ok but a bit of a mix of Pirelli and mid-range/budget, I'll keep tabs on them and replace them all when the time comes with some better quality rubber - MOT was £30.
Next on the list is was a DSG (S-tronic
) service, my local German specialist was booked up, they wanted £180 which isn't bad, but couldn't get me in, Audi charge a bit more £225, but due to the current state of things that will be on the back burner for now, there is also a little dent in the bonnet that I want rid of, that will have to wait too.
So, this means that any upgrade will be taking place in my garage, hopefully i'll be able to get a few jobs done and learn a bit along the way.
The scuff on the front bumper was a hint to some previous damage, having looked underneath the car there was nothing obvious structural-wise (is that a word?) and there is no damage recorded against the car.
I'm guessing the fog light was smashed in the bump, but it has been replaced, whoever removed the bumper put it back on wrong, resulting in this white part of the bumper sticking out on top of the grill, instead of underneath it, which is why the light cover wouldn't fit and was residing in the boot!
So I removed the torx screws and pulled the grill away so I could tuck the white part of the bumper (in above pic) under the grill.
I'm still not massivley happy with the gaps but not much i can do right now, at least the bumper is back on properly now and he scuff was mostly buffed out using t-cut.
Then, I decided to spray the standard greyish front grill gloss black.
Primer and (very lazy) masking.
Halfords' finest Gloss Black.

Interesting posts above. Thanks for everyone's contributions. I do like the DSG box so will probably buy something else with one; good to note how to check a DSG box is healthy.
Re tuning up, also interesting to note that 2.0s are easier to tune. I guess the question is - how much power can they handle before you have to upgrade things?

Exactly what I've done with both my cars - cutting locking wheel nuts off is not something I can be bothered with.Nice TT OP,......
