So as time goes on and more and more information comes out about how long the lockdowns could last coming and going for months on end. It's almost inevitable if it does the economy could be devastated.

I hope the worse doesn't happen but how are people maybe planning for this possibility financially in terms of investments and savings to protect themselves?

Do people think savings are safe, are runs on backs out of the question? I have been taking a bit of cash out here and there just to have a bit of cash to hand if banks do start to see trouble.
I have a bit of gold I bought a few years ago nothing mad though, thinking of maybe buying a few silver coins just to spread my investments if you can call them that. Is it worth it or just worth keeping the money in the bank?
Also have a few shares in one of the big supermarkets just going sit on them and hope they are still worth something in the future.

The government will back stop the banks, remember this is not 2008 and a banking crisis.

Being cash rich is the answer for me, illiquid assets are useless.

It will be interesting to see how it pans out, I think some of the high street administrations are companies taking advantage of the situation and getting out or reducing their lease terms, Debenhams and Kath Kidston to name a few

I wouldn't like to be a high street commercial landlord at the moment or a hotelier for that matter

Fingers cross we are let out at the end of April and we can start to try and get back to normal, whatever the NEW normal might be

Silver attracts VAT and is therefore a poor investment
