we arrive at the track on Saturday morning but I have not managed to arrange a tent / sleeping bags. In anyone's experience will this be a major problem as I've been told that a quick trip to the Carrefour hypermarket will sort out most needs.

Yep.

Carrefour's tent sales usually improve around this time of year.

Or if you want to get sorted first, Halfrauds are doing a reasonable and Economic range. Aldi likewise.

Got my tent from Blacks and it is brilliant. Goes into a small bag, but big enough for 2 adults and lots of space. Very waterproof (survived Le Mans 2001)!

If you don't want to run the risk of them all being sold out in le mans you could always get one from the hypermarkets in calais. Assuming you have the space

Got our tent in Argos. They have a decent range of equipment as well. One visit and you can get the lot.
