Correct. There's a CAW211A Steve McQueen 40th anniversary that is really similar but as a LE, commands a pretty decent premium.I've had a few

Looking to offload one?
Nope, I slimmed down to having only one left (CAW211P). I got it new from Montredo a few years back for a smidge over £3k IIRC, though they're a bit more now - https://www.montredo.com/en-gb/watches/tag-heuer/m... When I bought it, they did negotiate a bit on price so you might be able to talk them down a bit; can't imagine trade will be brisk right at the moment. There's one guy on eBay selling a new one for £3600 but it's been there for months, and you never know, he might fancy a deal to get rid of it.
I switched from the deployant buckle strap (which is nice enough), to a custom Giuliano Corfam job - here it is fitted to the CAW211A I had previously:

In this market how on earth do people buy and sell them used?

The original Monaco (as worn by McQueen in Le Mans) came out in 1969, and the current CAW211P re-edition of it came out in 2015.
They are automatic mechanical watches. The original Calibre 11 from the first 1969 Monaco was one of the first automatic chronograph watches, though the movement in the current gen is from a different family.
Lots of people will buy a watch unseen, for postal delivery - see https://www.watchpatrol.net/ or https://www.watchrecon.com/ for a consolidation of lots of classified ads from watch forums.
I like the Monaco and have tried on several models but not bought one as yet.
They are quite thick in the case, and even though they are 'only' 39mm (the new Heuer 02 model is a bit bigger, at 40mm) I think they wear a bit bigger, as the case is of course square.
My favourite is the Gulf edition - CAW211R. These are still fairly widely available. It has a sunray dial (the CAW211P is a matt blue dial) and it's nowhere near as garish in real life as you might think.
For a cheaper alternative (to see if you like the idea of a Monaco, have a look at these - about £300 or so for a quartz version:

Yep... I'd wanted one for ages and the more I looked at them the more I knew it had to be a Calibre 11 over the 12.
A few subtle differences including removal of all the Tag branding (Heuer only), more of a matt blue face and different strap are the obvious ones.
DominicH (on here) of Hackett watches did a fantastic deal on a new one for me about 2 years back and I picked it up from him within a couple of days or making initial contact.
Wears well either dressed down or in work attire. It won't be to everyone's taste but try one on and see how it feels for you.
