Not sure on this one. 2 family members live in a small flat in London. One has had CV and recovered about a week ago, the other didn't catch it.

We live in a big 4 bed house with a big garden. We spend a fair bit of time with them normally, go on hols etc. Mrs 111R said (is testing my reaction) to get them to self isolate here as it's nicer/bigger/etc. I can see the reasoning but I'm not sure...

Thoughts?

I don't see the issue. Daughter moved in with us two weeks ago for the duration. Better than sitting in a bedroom in a shared house in a sh!tty party of London. She's working from home so it doesn't make any difference where she's located and no difference in health care capability.

I know a few people who have changed household for the duration.

Has the other person been tested? Are you absolutely sure it is not an asymptomatic case? Does anything they are bringing with them still potentially have live virus, even half life on it? Has your missus read anything on the spread of the disease and the government advice and understood it?

This is how the infection moves exponentially between clusters . Case case, (move) cluster cluster, boom.

I wouldn’t do it.

Nothing like a carefully worded argument, you may be right but elucidating would do no harm.
I suspect there will be a lot of heart searching about immediate family returning to family homes next weekend for Eater.

The guidance from the government is a big fat no to doing this, it is the very definition of unnecessary travel

In fairness it didn’t need any expansion. Governmental advice and guidance along with police instruction are quite clear.

I’m in the same position, working from home and living alone in a bedroom and I’m honestly feeling really isolated. I’ve been thinking about moving back to my mums just while this virus is happening, which she is happy for me to do.

Is this actually allowed does anybody know. I’m thinking the lockdown is going to get a lot stricter very soon so should make a move if I’m going to do it.

You'll be told by many on here its not allowed. If you need to self-justify it just class it as a mental health issue and it will fall under the vulnerable people care category. After all the deputy chief medical officer advised couple living apart that they could consolidate into one household.

Thanks, I’m eagerly awaiting being told I’m an idiot. If it’s for the rest of April I could probably manage as I’m doing at the moment. My worry is it’ll be 6 months and then I really don’t think I’d manage. I’ve never struggled with mental health before but I was proper hit with low mood yesterday. Watched House on amazon for about 7 hours, great show but it didn’t feel good.
I rang my mum, and she suggested moving back, which I’m now considering.

Look at Rochester NY. You have to wonder why it is a hot spot until you realize it’s a university town that feeds NYC. All the graduates that work in the city and live in shared accommodation are moving back to their parents to work from home. And, as a result they are spreading the virus and making a new hot spot.

Any of this sound familiar.

I will add, I don’t live in London, I live in a small town in Yorkshire, my mum is in the big city (by comparison) of York.
That’s my concern though, I’m really seeing this as a last case scenario. If it’s another month I’ll stick to it, I’m worried if it becomes 6 months or more.

Moving to another residence at the moment would be unwise IMO. Give it at least until the end of the current 3 week lockdown, when the Government will update their advice, and follow that advice. If they ease the restrictions, which seems unlikely, then fine. Otherwise keep yourself and others isolated until the professional medical advice says it's safe.

Given the unequivocal government guidance (to me at least) I'm surprised anyone is asking this however, I can think of one possible difficulty, trying to re-register your 'guests' with a local GP while they're with you for what could be months.

Essentially if you all then isolated for another 14 days I wouldn’t see the issue.

The people I live next door to are still travelling to their second home every weekend which they really shouldn’t be doing.

How far away are they? What would they say if stopped by the fuzz?

But also, if you have to ask...

I guess the problem is that we can translate the rules as we see fit. Imagine you have 5 families and they are all isolating and haven't left the house for 14 days. Technically, they should be free of the virus so could have a massive BBQ today.
