Bank Holidays on furlough

Why wouldnt you ask?
If your company are using the government scheme and not topping it up then they are essentially not paying you for the duration of furlough so really you should be owed holiday once you return.
That's what I figured. My company are doing the absolute bare minimum despite being in a strong financial position so I want to make sure I get what I am entitled to in return. You're being paid while off. You're being paid 'as normal'. The difference is you are not actually working. The bank holiday dates form part of this.
Unless you would like your employer to say they think you should not accrue holiday entitlement under furlough? Or maybe that as you are not working any hours the first 5 weeks back you will do 70hours each?
How is being paid 80% being paid as normal? I’d not actually thought of the bank holidays. Good point and think I’ll bring it up where I work as same here that the company is only doing the bare minimum and if they didn’t get the 80% off the government I’ve no doubt they’d be getting rid of us. Most of the world is in lock down, the financial effect of this is going to be absolutely massive, many businesses are likely to collapse, tens of thousands of people have died worldwide, you're being paid 80% of your salary by the government to do sweet F.A all day - and you're worried that you're wasting a bank holiday and want to be able to defer it?
FFS - I've heard it all now.

lol, i am not worried at all. my employer are in a strong position and could easily afford to pay 100% off their own back but they choose to pay 80% funded by the government instead, so yes, if we should have a day off then i want it otherwise they are making money for nothing. i would also rather be working than sat at home you presumptuous pleb.FFS - I've heard it all now.

Yes mate - your company are really lucky to have an employee like you. You win the prize for the most self centred post I've seen in a very long time.If you'd rather not be sat on your arse, sign up for the NHS volunteer scheme. f

Given bank Holidays form part of the statutory leave entitlement is it safe to assume if on furlough then we can use these days later in the year instead like normal leave days?
I rather suspect your contract will specify bank holidays count as holiday... When you agreed to go on Furlough, did you seek to amend this clause?eliot said:

I'm not at all sure I would ask, as it doesn't put you in a good light.
Indeed. People who tend to exploit all their ‘entitlements’ tend to be those who find themselves getting the elbow when the employer gets an opportunity to do so.

People have lost their jobs with no prospect of getting any kind of employment in the near future. Some people have nothing (I know two people who were unceremoniously sacked from their posts). A number of employers are having to shut their doors down and pretty much say goodbye to their business. Meanwhile people have died or have had their lives turn around in a short space of time as a result of someone dying. One bloke is worried about his bank holiday.
Come on dude.

Whereas the NHS has cancelled bank holidays and we are expected to work as normal to keep the service running.
And it is clearly appreciated. This was a simple post asking a simple question, no body else here is aware of how my employers operate and take staff for granted etc. They are lucky to have me as an employee as I'm very good at what I do BUT I am also very aware I am lucky to have a job currently.
Ultimately they play things exactly down the line with no niceties given, why should I give them anything other than that back.
