Converting VHS to Digital Via OBS software

Wondering if anyone could help or at least point me in the right direction.

I bought a Video capture dongle and have the OBS software.
When recording the video is fine but the audio starts for 2 seconds the cuts out then starts again and is consistent like that.

Are there any settings i need to change to have it consistent ?

or is there any better free software out there that i could use?

Sounds to me like copy protection kicking in? Was it a home movie, or a pre-recorded tape?

Or bad tracking? Anyhow if you really want good results look at invezting in a time vase corrector.
