Hi all, not sure if this is in the correct forum, or whether it should be in the Business section, but here goes...

I'd like a custom plugin developing for Outlook for Mac that I can roll out across my business (currently 26 users). The plugin is related to filing both sent and received e-mails as well as having a learning capability. I can demo exactly what I want, as a plugin exists for the Mac Mail client from a third-party developer, I just want it replicating for Outlook for Mac.

I'm not a programmer but I'm assuming that the developer would first need experience in coding in the MacOS environment, specifically for Microsoft Outlook for Mac. Presume there would also be some requirement of database experience and making sure the plugin works nicely across MS Exchange accounts, being able to move copies of messages between Exchange accounts whilst keeping date and time stamps correct.

If anyone has any clue what I'm talking about, and would be interested in providing a quotation for the work, please let me know!

Cheers
Mac

A client uses Mail Manager by 28 Hands, it pops up when you send or read an email asking where to file. Guesses where to file it for you. Doesn't look like they have OSX support though sadly.

Thanks, I've heard of Mail Manager and some of my employees have used it in a previous life, but it's Windows only.
The plugin I want to replicate is http://dervishsoftware.com/ - fantastic bit of software, sadly let down by the native Mail client in MacOS

Wouldn't it be cheaper and quicker to get Parallels and run Office on Windows in seamless mode?

Cheapest and quickest does not always mean the preferred or better longer term solution for the hardware and software we want to run as a team.

All Outlook addins are cross platform and use JavaScript. No knowledge of Mac OS is required.

No problem. Have you looked for add in's in the Office Store? No point in reinventing the wheel f there is a product already out there.

Yeah spent hours trawling, nothing quite does what I'm looking for in the manner that I want

OP, have you approached the developers (Dervish) themselves? Surely they would be best placed to create what you need rather than try and have someone else reverse-engineer it. IME people massively underestimate the cost and complexity of developing and supporting custom software; at least these guys have already proven they can deliver what you need.

Ah, that's a pity frown Yeah on further investigation it appears it's a one-man-band with limited support offered https://dervishsoftware.freeflarum.com/d/82-compan...
