How to isolate unit from noise?
Discussion
Hi guys, I have a USB CNC controller that pmugged into a powerboard with a Dyson vacuum cleaner and makita router.
The router is generating a fair bit of noise (and probably the Dyson as well) and is causing the CNC controller to loose its USB connection with the laptop intermittently which causes the milling job to fail.
Any ideas on how to isolate the controller or reduce the line noise it experiences?
I could put the router and vacuum ona different power board but they’d still go to the same double power point at the wall. Would that work?
Thanks for your help

Better USB cable with a decent screen, ferrite on the USB cable, get a filtered extension lead / add a line filter module to run the sensitive stuff on, look at a better PSU/shielding/earthing on the controller box?
Ferrite on the router power cable? Check the brushes in the router? Sparks are really noisy. Any suppression on the motor itself? If so check it's still good.
Check for ground loops?
There's actually a load of info out there on this specific problem (CNC router noise & controller issues) which might be easier to follow.

I’ve changed USB cables and out ferrite cores on the USB, and the router power cables.
I’ll look into a filtered extension and redo the electronics box mounting all the components onto a metal ground plate
The system works fine on a dry run with the router on and NOT cutting, but something is happening when there’s load, either through increased interference from the router or perhaps increased workload of the cnc motors?
