Once lockdown is lifted I'm returning to my commute on a bike and giving the train a miss....

Many years back I used to ride into London and have decided I'm returning to biking and have decided I'm getting an NC but have a couple of questions regarding insurance, the last bike I insured was about 10 years back so dont have any no claims but the difference in quotes I'm getting is vast.

MCE have quoted £283.28 but then theres Devitt quoting £695!!!

Anyone used MCE?

Really looking forward to getting back on a bike and all in cheaper than the rail ticket, including running per month!

Used MCE many times with no issues, never had to put a claim in though.

Likewise.

I'd use them again if required.

Have a good search on the forums mate.

They have a horrifically bad reputation if you need them. Our tamed insurance bods on here were quite keen to actively advise people to avoid them.

That said, they're cheap. We all know that's important.

I wouldn't touch them myself.

I always avoid now.

I had two bikes nicked last year so it’s really brought home the importance of good insurance.

I was insured with LV and they were great to deal with.

Cheers for this, I have one of my cars insured with LV and like the way they work so will give them a go.

I used Just Motorcycle Insurance, which I believe are part of Carol Nash. Pricing not the cheapest, but seemed OK.
Someone reversed into me last year - the claim went via 4th Dimension, & apart from it taking 5 weeks to replace front tyre & a couple of panel parts, was handled extremely well, with decent communication throughout. Bike was delivered in a properly fitted out van, with a driver who clearly was a bike enthusiast & very polite.

Regarding MCE, and I realise I'm a sample size of one, I've been insured with them for the past few years simply because they're the only people who'd give me a vaguely sensible quote. Bike was nicked a couple of years ago, had no problems claiming with them - friendly staff, and progressed the claim reasonably quickly.

I may have got lucky, and as I say, sample size of one, but MCE seemed fine to me.

MCE worked ok when I had to claim. A bit of arguing about bike value and slow response but were massively cheaper.

Found bemoto are beating MCE's price for me these days
