New Season of Life on Mars in the works
Discussion
Not sure about this. Can't think of any examples when they've successfully brought a highly regarded series back to life many years on The original, aside from the blip in the middle when it went a bit silly for a while, is an outstanding piece of TV with a great conclusion so often missing.
Great news as far as I'm concerned.
Gene Hunt one of my favourite tv characters, and the relationship between Hunt and Tyler made for great viewing. Can't believe it was 14 years ago that the original series came out, I've watched both series (and the Ashes To Ashes follow up) several times since. There are some very clever details in the various storylines.
The new series will absolutely need to feature both Philip Glenister and John Simm at the very least; hopefully as many of the supporting cast can also be signed up. I wonder if Keeley Hawes will also be starring, it would be interesting to see how it would all pan out with all three main characters featured.

Ashes to Ashes wasn't as good as Life on Mars (because we'd seen the end of LoM so knew what was basically happening) and they already finished out with something pretty conclusive leaving no real room (or point) for anything more.
Plus the way Ashes to Ashes ended wasn't exactly great, and I didn't think it worked any better than when Lost did pretty much the same thing.
It might actually happen but seems a pointless return to past glories.

Crikey, how on earth can anyone complain about Ashes to Ashes? Absolutely brilliant show. Most of ph were quoting “Fire up the Quattro!” every bloody day. Hell, you heard it in most offices in the country! In fact, I’d lay good money that you could still walk into the majority of offices in the U.K. (prior to Corona lockdown) this year and say “Fire up the Quattro” and most of the office would know exactly what you were talking about.
It made Keeley Hawes name.
It made Keeley Hawes name.

No it didn't ,she's been around a long time before this and acted in dozens of things. She had been in Spooks which was a big show at the time and she'd also been in Tipping the Velvet which the media made a huge fuss about because it was about lesbians. This was all way before Ashes to Ashes.
Perhaps you hadn't heard of her but that doesn't mean other people hadn't.
