I have got a £16K credit balance on my Barclaycard due to a refund for a cancelled holiday. How on earth do I get this money from my card account back into my current account?
I have been struggling for over a week now with what should be a simple task. I have internet banking on both my phone and home computer but neither can shed any light on how to do this. The Barclaycard website has nothing except an offer to cancel all fees for a cash transfer, however when I follow the link it takes me to the login page for my Barclaycard account and then to my account page which has no way of transferring funds. I have phoned the Barclaycard helpline every day but never get put through after several hours of waiting, usually it just cuts off during the waiting period. My Barclays Bank help line is answered promptly but they claim to have no way of accessing my Barclaycard details and can offer no help beyond the Barclaycard helpline.
I am tearing my hair out with this. The Credit card terms and conditions state that a credit balance on the card account is not permitted and that a credit balance will be refunded. Like how?

Obviously I could go and spend money on my card which would reduce the balance but given that my average monthly spend on the card is close to zero then it would take a hell of a long time to get rid of the credit balance.

I have raised an issue over a week ago on their on line help desk, guaranteed 24hr response time, guess what? No reply

I realize that the CV19 has impacted on their business but surely a multi billion pound business like Barclaycard has contingency planning in place for disaster management? Having a completely inaccessible help line is a bit poor in this day and age.

Fortunately I don’t need the cash right now, However if this ststorm continues for a few months I certainly will need the cash.

Anybody else struggling with this one?

I have a feeling that money laundering controls were tightened not too long ago to take a dislike of credit cards with a positive balance. I wonder if your card issuer might get twitchy themselves soon, and push the funds back to your bank.

Last year I paid £4,000 odd onto my credit card when it should have been £400 and the bank rang me the next day and reaccredited the cash back into my current account.

Absolutely phone them up and ask for a refund to your nominated bank account. Try calling in the middle of the night?

Success bounce

Persevered with the help line after the encouragement on here. 1 hour 52 mins on hold and the phone gets answered by a lovely lady with a broad Yorkshire accent. No Indian script reading call center workers here.
All done in less than a minute. Brilliant.

Why on earth in this day and age it cannot be simply done on line beggars belief.

Well that’s my excitement for the day, back to playing in the garage smile
