Reporting Drug Activity - Do the Police Not Want?

Local force have made it almost impossible to report.

All of the local Neighbourhood Policing Team details have been removed from their website & emails sent to the address are returned as un-deliverable.

The 101 menu states, in no uncertain terms, that unless you are witnessing a crime actually occurring, or someone is dead/injured/self-immolating, use the web.

When you go there, virtually every menu ends up with call 101.

It's like they've outsourced it to the Vogons.

I know there's a few other things going on at the moment, but finding used needles in the garden is not on. I just want to log it, so it can be looked into when things calm down.

Even if you do manage to speak to someone, they’ll probably just refer you to your local council who will have a team who dispose of such things pretty rapidly.

Which force area are you in? There are ways and means, but as has been said, there are much bigger things going on at the moment.

Neighbourhood policing took a back seat (or completely disappeared in some cases) when the cuts started really biting (this is years ago now) and I wouldn't expect to see them back to where they were any time in the near future.

Send an Email to your local Police and Crime Commissioner. There was supposed to be Police and Crime Commissioner elections next month, they've been postponed until May 2021, so they'll have spare capacity to deal with it.

We had a similar issue a year or so ago (live in Trafford), and 101 passed it on to the Council. The chap from the Council was very good actually, and the drug use ceased very quickly.

In summary: your local council will probably have some sort of 'Neighbourhood Scum Wrangler' or similar...

Everything is normal. PCSO Watson still sits up the (very wide and more like a 40 than a 30) road every day (as long as it’s sunny, obviously) with her speed gun and then happily posts away on Facebook about the days “haul.”

This is far more important than drugs, obviously.

You know that low level drug use is pretty low on cops radar, and with good reason.

Most of the time, it's in the park opposite & aside from the act of dealing, the main issue is the idiotic driving, littering & general antisocial stuff.

I have the same. I live opposite a small park where kids go to smoke weed. Haven't had any needles in the garden though.

About time weed was legalised & do away with the whole sorry problem of kids smoking in front of families out to enjoy the park.
As for class A stuff: if there's no flights right now, surely the supply of H must have significantly dropped(??) = soaring prices/cold turkey....
Any law enforcement PH-er can confirm this?

No - Welcome to the World of COVID 19, where the police resources are being stretched to the limit by idiots who think the lock-down rules don't apply to them, and where: "I think there may be drug deals going on in the park over the road, but have no real proof", has to take a back seat for now.


Is it really THAT hard to understand, that with the current unprecedented crisis situation, the police (and every other emergency and public service department), are not able to simply carry on as though nothing is any different?
