I use some (PC) software that imports only from a scanner. Does anyone know of any virtual scanner software that would allow me to import a PDF directly without having to print it out and scan it (which is currently what happens). I have found a couple on the web does anyone use these or could recommend another that would do the trick? I'd rather use my carbon footprint on petrol!

Use a scanning app on your phone e.g. Office Lens, SharpScan. Once scanned you can email the pdf to yourself.

What scanner are you using?

Most are supplied with software that will scan directly to a bmp, jpg or pdf file.

That's assuming I understand your requirements correctly.

Thanks for the replies but I’ve obviously not been clear enough, sorry.

What I need is some software that pretends it’s a scanner To allow file imports as the program I’m using won’t import files directly, it only imports from a scanner.

The current situation involves printing out and scanning any files to get them into the program which is time consuming. I know the answer is to use a better program but that’s not really an option.

I think the two links in the original post would allow that but I’ve not tried using either of them.

Thanks in advance

Once you have imported into Medtech32 what are you doing with the file? Is it an OCR job?

Nothing. It’s just an image to read.

It is the reverse of this I need. Scanning not printing.

Thanks. I’d found that too but it’s just for testing as far as I can tell, it won’t allow you to import files.

Why won't any pdf reader do what you need?

No. I want to load PDF files into a program that does not allow file uploads, it will only accept input from a scanner so I need a program that pretends it is a scanner but instead of scanning allows upload of a file.
