Posted this in the kit car forum but not getting many answers down there :-
Currently building a Rocket 2 and looking to get some custom parts made. I have designed a new engine mount plate to correct an alignment issue with my build and looking for someone to make it if I send them the design I made on Fusion 360.
Nothing complicated, just a flat aluminium plate with some holes in.

I have added to my list of parts I want made with a more complicated gear linkage but not settled on the design yet.

I have seen a couple of these places advertised that will quote and make parts from drawings but want the feedback of the PH massive who may have had this done and can recommend anyone who can do it and post the part to me?

Cheers

Regarding the engine mount plate, does it require cnc? i.e. has it got curves, or just straight lines?

If that is literally all it is why not just order a plate from the bay-of-e & get the old cordless drill out?

The engine mount is quite a thick plate (16mm), I made another bracket using 8mm aluminium and had to drill a 50mm hole in it and that was painfull as my pillar drill isnt powerfull enough, so a 60mm hole in 16mm will take days..
Its not just a mount I want made, a modified gear linkage also and more stuff I have been unable to find already manufactured.

A decent hand held drill ought to have enough torque to drive the hole saw, if your pillar drill doesn't.

Alternatively just drill a circle of holes and join them up with a hacksaw, then file to final dimensions. It's time consuming with hand tools but straight forward to do.

The flat plate would be ideal for laser cutting. There are plenty of companies on ebay offering their services. A plate that thick would mean the holes are not cleanly cut all the way through, so probably best to draw them undersize then finish them with the correct size drill. Another option might be to make the bracket out of a number of thinner plates stacked. Laser cutting is cheap, but ask about minimum order charges.

The gear change bracket is more complicated and will cost you. I'd think about simplifying it if you can. Possibly making it from a number of flat laser cut parts welded or bolted together if appropriate.

I can make the engine mount for you, if you send me the aluminium.
